Climate varies from where you are in the country, but overall it is a warm environment. In the eastern-central part of Guatemala the climate type is hot and dry. In the costal lowlands the climate is hot and humid. In the highlands the weather is usually warm and colder at night. The average temperature is usually around 75°F. Depending on when you plan to visit the weather can change, November- April is the dry season and May- October is the rainy season. If you plan to go to the Caribbean coast it is wet their all year round.

What you pack depends on when your planning to come to Guatemala. Recommended items include

  • Lightweight clothing- The weather could be warm! Remember to bring a pair of shorts or two.

  • Jacket- For chilly days and cold evening explorations.

  • Rain gear- necessity if you visit during the rainy season, rain gear is always good to have incase you encounter that unexpected storm.

  • Hiking gear- If you plan on exploring this beautiful country you will need to dress accordingly. 

Seasons in Guatemala can affect what you decide to wear. During the rainy season its a good idea to wear rain coats, boots and waterproof clothes. During the dry season its a good idea to wear light clothes like shorts, shirts and dresses. These items appear on the packing list. If you want to blend in, the Guatemalan style is influenced by European and American fashions.
